RADIAL EDGE LIFT
The radial edge lift (REL)
is same concept as the AEL
but the measurement is
made along the radius of
the base curve rather than
parallel to the axis of the
lens.
REL is more difficult to
calculate and to visualize
than AEL, therefore AEL is
more commonly used. The
REL does give the shortest
distance from the cornea to
the lens edge.
